Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley A. Corral.
Hi Ashley, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a licensed massage therapist and business owner in the small town of Hondo, TX. I decided to open my business to make my schedule and be my boss. My business grew quickly from a one-room studio to a salon and spa in less than a year. I have used my business to create opportunities for licensed professionals like me and I love supporting other small businesses. I often open my door to others to let them step out and start their own business or have a brick-and-mortar place to pop-up if they need space. I am passionate about helping my community and being open and honest about how I ended up in our small town. I am Latina, a mom and wife, and I am proud of my heritage. I am living my dream knowing I was helped by many. I want to give back and inspire.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I finished school right before the Covid lockdown. My 3 children could not attend school, and my husband’s job cut hours. We were like most families during COVID-19. We were just trying to make it through. Massage therapy is all about touch. I could not take the test to get my license because all testing centers were closed, and no one was allowed to work. When I opened my business, I didn’t know what to expect. It was right when everyone came out of their homes and returned to their new “normal” lives. I wanted to be available to my children, so I went for it and opened my studio by myself , Elite massage therapy. Then, it turned into what it is now, Elite Salon Spa and Suites LLC.
We’ve been impressed with Elite Salon, Spa, and Suites LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Elite Salon, Spa, and Suites is a licensed salon and massage establishment. Our goal is to be a full-service salon and spa , a one-stop shop. We offer opportunities to licensed professionals to be their own business within our business. I created a place where everyone is welcome and can feel safe. The vibe is relaxing, the space is calm, and the goal is for our community to feel like they deserve the best because they do. What sets us apart is the way we take care of our clients. We truly care. We offer massage and hair services for everyone. Many clients say they feel comfortable and right at home in our space. Elite has private suites, booth rental opportunities, and different options for professionals. We are growing, and it’s amazing.
Alright, before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work, collaborate, or support you?
We collaborate with many different businesses and organizations. We have many home-based businesses who we let pop up in our business. We also share other business on our social media pages to show support. They do the same for us. The Hondo Chamber of Commerce has allowed us to meet other small business owners. We are so grateful for that. If anyone is interested in working with us we would love to give them the opportunity.
